NorthPoint Pets Dog Training Program — FAQs
About Our Training Programs
What types of dog training do you offer?
We offer a variety of training options including 6-week group programs (Puppy Socialization & Foundations, Beginner Foundations, Intermediate Life Skills, Advanced Reliability), private training sessions, and specialty classes such as loose leash walking, recall mastery, scent work, agility basics, and more.
What is your training philosophy?
At NorthPoint Pets, we go beyond basic obedience. We focus on creating confident dogs and empowered owners through balanced, breed-aware training that combines structure, discipline, and positive reinforcement. We believe training is a lifelong practice, not a one-time event.
How much do training classes cost?
Our 6-week group training programs cost $270, which includes weekly 60-minute sessions. Private training sessions are $85/hour or $450 for a 6-week program. Returning graduates receive 10% off additional class packages. Previous participants can drop in for $30 per class.
Why are your classes priced higher than some big-box stores?
Our training program delivers far more than basic obedience. Clients become part of the NorthPoint Pets community, gaining access to our training expertise, nutrition guidance, and carefully selected products that meet our high quality standards. We focus on real-world skills and building lasting relationships between dogs and their owners.
Class Structure & Requirements
How long are the training programs?
Our standard group training programs run for 6 weeks, with one 60-minute class per week. Each session includes training, socialization, and Q&A time with your instructor.
What age can my puppy start training?
Puppies can join our Puppy Socialization & Foundations class between 8 weeks and 5 months of age. This early window is crucial for development and builds the foundation for lifelong confidence and calm behavior.
What if my dog isn’t good with other dogs?
We offer private training sessions for dogs who need one-on-one attention. These 45-minute sessions address specific behavioral goals like leash reactivity and are tailored to your dog’s individual needs.
Can I join a class that’s already started?
Our 6-week programs progress sequentially. For the best experience, we recommend starting at the beginning of a new session. If you’ve completed a program previously, you can drop in to individual classes for $30 each.
Training Goals & Outcomes
What will my dog learn in training?
Depending on the level, your dog will learn everything from basic commands (sit, down, stay, come) to advanced skills like reliable recall, loose leash walking, maintaining position around distractions, polite greetings, and public manners. Our goal is to create well-mannered dogs ready for real-world situations.
What makes NorthPoint training different?
Our training integrates with our nutrition and wellness philosophy, focusing on creating better relationships rather than just “obedient” dogs. We have trainers with real-world experience, a clean and secure training environment, and a transparent curriculum with individual progress tracking.
What is the goal of your training program?
We aim to create confident, well-balanced dogs and empowered owners. We want to make public spaces more accessible and enjoyable for everyone by building trust, improving safety, and establishing lasting communication between dogs and their people.
